The response to a threat should be proportional to the threat. How many people have died as a result of the Wu Flu at a gymn? If zero, let the gyms open and let adult customers decide.

Agreed. By some counts medical mistakes, abuse of prescription drugs, harmful side effects etc is the 3rd or 4th leading cause of deaths. For instance, Viox was a standard medicine until withdrawn and is estimated to have killed tens of thousands.

In most US states, 80% of the deaths have occurred in nursing homes, where the average length of stay from admittance to death is (sadly) 6 months. For everyone else the mortality rate from the Kung Flu is about the same as seasonal flu. There should be an independent inquiry into why the govt response has been so incompetent and destructive.

Why wait 12 days to remove the final lockdown measures? What will happen over the 12 days to change an activity from unsafe to safe? If something is safe in 12 days it's safe today.

The economies of Taiwan and Singapore are largely unaffected and their people are not under house arrest.

Do you agree that a law to close the borders could have been voted on in January?

In 1948, how many British people could afford to buy a car, or go on a holiday abroad? If the argument is health care is better today than before, we would expect it to improve.
The question is if capitalism is better than govt run industries, what is unique about health care?
