I think the solution probably hinges on autonomous vehicles. We wouldn't need our own cars if we could just call one up on a phone and dump it at the end of the journey, Like taxis now but going anywhere and no driver to pay or who needs to get home. I can't see them being up to the mark in time either though. If trips are not reduced the grid still need the same upgrade regardless of the number of vehicles too.

I'm old enough not to care as I doubt I'll still be driving by the time this all comes to pass (at least 20 years late at a guess).

We are far too small for anything we do to make an iota of difference to global warming. The government has certainly announced a target of 2035 to end sales of petrol, diesel and hybrid vehicles but that is only 15 years away. We should be seeing comprehensive plans on how all these electric cars will be provided with charging points when I'd guess that fewer than 50% of homes have a drive where a decicated charge point can be installed. Plus of course a start on doubling our grid capacity to allow it to happen should by some miracle the charge points materialise. Announcements for over a decade away are cheap. Doing the work to make it happen certainly won't be.

But you simply don't use it on the forum. Folks here may be old farts in the main but they have all heard of that new fangled Google website which in 5 seconds will show just how fictitious the name you use here really is.
