Easily the most important speech delivered at CPAC this year. (No apple-polishing here. I don't get paid enough to suck up.)

One so rarely hears substance at these things that when it does occur it first strikes the ear as vaguely alien. I recommend listening to it twice.

Very, very well done.

"While people will submit to suffering which may hit anyone, they will not so easily submit to suffering which is the result of the decision of authority. It may be bad to be just a cog in an impersonal machine; but it is infinitely worse if we can no longer leave it, if we are tied to our place and to the superiors who have been chosen for us. ... Once government has embarked upon planning for the sake of justice, it cannot refuse responsibility for anybody’s fate or position. "

Rob:

Excellent post. Thanks for the obvious time and care you put into it.

Soros has to be wondering if this is the best he can expect for his three million bucks. Me, I'd be asking for a refund.

It is axiomatic that any competent film-maker can make anyone look stupid given enough film and/or time. That the MM people failed so spectacularly means not only are they propagandists, but profoundly inept propagandists.

Blumenthal is a thug. It appears to be something of a family business. To create a Blumethal start with Robert Gibbs, remove all vestigial traces of decency, propriety and basic fairness, double up on the neuroses -- especially the inferiority complex and the more or less default dyspeptic nastiness -- and shake well.

He is, to paraphrase the Bard, quite a piece of work.

If ever there was a case of the pot calling the kettle beige it's the Left's tut-tutting over the use of celebrities. While Voight may not possess the insight and profundity of (say) a Janeane Garofalo (who will readily tell you she became very politically astute after she got sober) , he nevertheless appears to have acquitted himself well.

Walter is of course right about the implied ad hominem, but the Left's staggering ability to shrug off or ignore such glaring inconsistencies never ceases to amaze me.

David:

Your words as always are enormously encouraging. More than once (okay, WAY more than once) I have found myself reading other NRB contributers and muttering "Wow, I wish *I'd* written that". This is probably a good indication that I'm in the right place. Thanks for including me.

I have always suspected the Olbermann heavily identifies with Ritchie Cunningham. This is further confirmation.

This is one of the best things I have ever read from you. It was like watching Ray Robinson throw five-punch combinations.

Great job.

All the best,

Great post. The detailed juxtaposition is devastating.
