His desk. Now hold them accountable and write to your respresentatives. Every voice counts and matters.
Now write someone who can make some changes. Your voice counts!
I agree the Policy and Procedure Manuals are a great resource for social workers. And if they had correctly identified this boy the worker would have had to place him in a physically/sexually aggressive trained home. Why did they not do this? Because those homes are hard to find and finding a 'bed' for them is difficult. So the only result would be specially trained group homes or facility. Well, those are very spendy and cost thousands every month. Thousands. I guess a potential lawsuit sounds cheap to them now. Especially when laws are changing to cap lawsuits to only $250,000 (I believe). Now that gives them even more opportunity fail homes. Do the math, paying out $6,000-$7,000/month vs. paying out a one time fee of $250,000. And really not much benefit for lawyers to take the cases now. Raise awareness!
Thank you. Now you do the same. Every voice matters and counts. :)
They must protect him from himself. By not doing this they ruined many lives.
Agreed. Now write your representatives. :)
Thank you. I appreciate that very much. :)
I agree with everything you say. Well, except for the fact that I was naive. Please read some of my other posts. 2 minute stories really only tell a very, very short version. And this problem isn't really for me to defend myself either. It's to bring awareness to as many people as possible. Take the time to write representatives, use your voice and help bring change.
Ok, I'm just going to say that these kids (not knowing the situation) were dealt some pretty bad cards from the get go. Saying they were 'dumb-as-dirt, bounce-off-the-wall brats' was harsh. Just guessing (cause I don't know) but I would assume they may have been product of a drug and alcohol addicted mother. Then may have been neglected and abused as a result. Unfortunately, children develop their personalities very young. You can guide them and give them love and structure. This helps a great deal but does not, but no means, that you can erase the damage done to them. I wish this mother strength and wisdom and hope she is assertive and gets the help they need. It's a long hard road to travel and one I would not do for money. I am sure it supplements her income but is a far cry from the pay she could receive if she put this kind of time in the workforce. I'm sure she does it from the heart and could use all the support she can get from friends and family.
