Hold down the home and power button until phone restarts.. Then restore the phone to 5.1.1 in iTunes, then use the JB tool, and then proceed to the next step..! Happened to me...

Cydia will probably be under heavy load for a while so you may receive errors trying to add source or installing various tweaks.. Think of all the new jailbreakers there are from the jailbreak tool from today... Not an expert though just giving an opinion from my past experiences!

It seems like the newer FW seems to slow down older iDevices.. First gen iPad ran really good, and as the FW updates continued, so did the performance decline... Which is to be expected with new features..

The one thing wrong in your logic, is that the "dev team" doesn't have to provide you with anything.. It is out of great kindness they share their knowledge with us in the first place... Be thankful...
