Sandra Bullock kissed Meryl Streep at the Critic's Choice Movie Awards. So I think kissing Scarlett was just them joking around.

I just saw this video, I think it's a pretty cool idea for collecting oil: http://www.wimp.com/solutionoil/

What do you guys think? It could be reasonable to use hay in wetlands and closer to beaches... I'm not sure how well it would work out at sea considering how much oil is out there. But why not try?

I think this is also a problem of mental health. If someone with an extensive record is going to be released from prison, mental health care should be provided. They should not be allowed to walk free. Unfortunately, this type of care costs money, so it comes down to whether or not taxpayers are willing to pay more (which is typically not the case, especially in this economy). If someone is committing serious crimes, there is obviously a mental health issue at hand. If mental health care isn't going to be an option, they should not be released.

The problem with not releasing people from jail and prison, though, is that facilities fill up quickly and are understaffed. In Washington State, death penalty cases cost around $470,000, on top of costs for court personnel (up to $70,000). On the flip side, life in prison is also very expensive (and why should a felon be able to live off of the state's money in a heated building with a bed and food while innocent homeless people are left on the streets?) In a Utopian society, we would have enough money to provide services to the people who really need it. Unfortunately, this isn't the case and isn't going to happen any time soon. This is a much larger problem than I think a lot of us realize. If we want to see a change in the way things are run, people need to start stepping up to the plate.

I think about the families and friends of the fallen officers with a heavy heart, and pray that they find comfort.
