I believe switching to a 4 day school schedule would entice the kids to achieve better grades & conduct. It would also allow families a longer weekend together for that quality time we don't get to put in! It's not just about the kids; it's about the bus drivers, teachers, school workers, etc. The mind break alone would insure a better relationship between students and teachers. Less lunches to be prepared, less gas and gives teachers extra planning time where they don't feel so rushed, especially during leap testing preparation. I think Lafayette Parish should seriously consider making this change. You can't please all the people all the time. What would be nice is if some teachers wanted to make extra money, schools could offer tutoring on the Fridays for those who need extra help. We are always talking about how our ratings are not where they should be; I say follow Midland to success!
