"I don't think Claire Lynch is a friend of anybody in TNA". Yup. :p

That would be all fine and dandy if TNA was looking for a head writer or head of creative with an all-encompassing vision for TNA that could revolutionize the wrestling business.

Except they're not. They're looking for an entry-level writer/producer with reality tv experience, to help develop & produce storylines & segments with the talent. They're in the midst of relocating their operation, of cutting expenses, of restructuring the company : if you (or any of the numerous smarks I've seen here & there, all convinced that they could do better than TNA Creative, and that once Dixie will read their application & their - obviously mind-blowing & revolutionary - proposal, they're gonna get instantly hired, and given total control over the creative aspects of TNA) really think they're looking for anything more than another Matt Conway 2.0, I've got a bridge to sell you.

A nice bridge. It even has trolls under it.

TNA trolls. Obviously.

This was essentially a one-match show with filler, but that one match was a good match. It might even have been a great match with some cleaner spots/counters & another finish (Angle works the angle the entire match -> Aries resists the Ankle Lock again & again -> Aries hits his shoulder on the post once, and taps in less than three seconds... meh. Needed either an ankle lock as the finish, or another minute of Angle working the shoulder/applying the crossface).

Aside from that, I like that Team Jobbers is starting to get momentum and traction ; I'm guessing next week will be Holly's turn to face Gail, and as usual, Dixie's promos tends to meander and go long.

Yeah, great idea, put the fat guy, the guy who openly dislikes gimmick match, and the guy with two busted knees in a cage match restricting their moves. Also, as far as i'm concerned, a cage match is only hardcore when you can't escape the cage, and have to fight until one man can't fight anymore. The exact opposite of the Xscape match, in short. Not feeling it.

(seriously, though, not a fan of the way TNA's booking the X-div & those ONO, so far. Let's hope it will get better)

Haven't read the spoilers, but... still no X-division match. Sigh.

Finally an Impact that I can say has been solid, entertaining & captivating from top to (almost) bottom. My only minor quibble with the show, really, being the pointless filler tag match, that did nothing to advance anything. But the Aces swerve was very well done, the MEM disbanding was solid, and the rest of the show was good tv. I'm not entirely optimistic for the near future yet, but with a couple more shows like this one, i'll be getting there.

Used as a name, Amazonian = from Amazonia & Amazon = Wonder Woman/Xena-type female warrior. Might wanna edit that. ;-)

Aside from that, nice column, as usual.

Yeah, I meant "tired rehashes of pre-existing dynamics." and my brain failed me. Though the tournament example is exactly what I meant : even putting aside the fact that the exact same thing has been done back then in WWE during the Punk ordeal, it's nothing fresh or original. Holding a tournament when the title is vacant is the standard booking tactic. I just don't see those subtleties or major differences you seem to detect... or at least I don't see anything that wasn't there six months ago.

(well, that's not entirely true... I really noticed the swervy-booking of BFG, and that's not a direction I want the company to go in)

But hey, I guess we'll agree to disagree on that one.

"Everything right now feels fresh, and this new creative direction is as clear I have seen since I started watching. "

I really don't see it. If anything, right now, all I can see is exactly the same feuds that were there a month ago, tired rehashes of presisting dynamics, and the past month has been rematches after rematches to fill time. I really don't see the freshness or new creative direction.... even HeelDixie, as enjoyable as she can be, is nothing original or fresh.

I'd keep the Xtravaganza, Knockouts, Tag Tournament, & World Cup.

I'd change up the British Empire ONO to a fairer 4 TNA guys/ 4 British stars tournament. I'd drop the Jokers Wild. I'd have a Rising Sun ONO, taped in Japan or in the US, in partnership with a Japanese promotion. Maybe the same thing in Mexico.

And to be perfectly frank, I'd reach out to Mike Quackenbush, and try to partner up with him/Chikara for the King of Trios, elevating it to a legit, best of the US, Trios tournament (keep the 3 days of show, but only show the TNA relevant matches in full for the PPV release, with the other matches montage'd).
