His past posts outside of this thread do not matter. By claiming they do, you engage in the inductive logical reasoning. E.g. The bus has always arrived at 8AM. Tomorrow the bus will arrive at 8AM. There is no guarantee the bus will arrive tomorrow at 8AM just as there is no guarantee Strat meant religious morality just because he has in the past. In effective communication, what's written is what is meant, not what you think the other person meant.

Nope.
Nope.

DOMA should be repealed. The populace of each state should decide.

In addition, the states should replace "marriage" with "civil union." But that won't happen; "marriage" has too much power as a word for any side to willingly surrender it.

>> Ok. So show me where being gay is immoral outside of a religious viewpoint.

Morality is subjective without absolutes. I could show you, but you could counter, and we'd have a stalemate.

>> But throwing up a handful of fallacious arguments against the wall doesn't cut it.

So how is it fallacious? The post deals with what was written, not the unwritten.

>> You, I, and everyone here knows all the anti-gay folks here preach straight from the their old book.

That's a generalization.

>> And on secular morality: It's immoral to violate the rights of others. [...]

That's one particular set of secular morals and one that this country does not adhere to. Imprisoning people, even for crimes, is oppression.

>> Based on that moral philosophy, I see a pretty glaring omission on the part of the Christian anti-gay movement. [...]

Of course, based on that philosophy.

>> You can call it immoral all you want, but it comes from your religion and it's subculture.

That is hardly the only basis for opposition to homosexuality.

He said "moral" not "religious moral." By proceeding under the assumption of religion, you are drawing conclusions based on there being no morality outside of religion. Which, if atheists are to be believed, isn't true. You can't debunk half of something and consider the whole debunked.

We haven't lived under religious law in this country. Despite that, have you forgotten that sodomy was a punishable crime for many years in our secular government? Now why was that?

Your mockery is that of a fool who is either ignorant or stupid, and to top it off, you attempt to put words in another's mouth. You are the one who is suggesting we live under religiously dictated morality, not Strat.

"16. March 24: Contended conflict of interest by Palin because she wore Arctic Cat logo gear during the Tesoro Iron Dog snowmobile race. Palin's husband, Todd, is sponsored by Arctic Cat in the race. Filed by Linda Kellen Biegel, a Democratic blogger. Dismissed June 2."

Oh noes, such a horrible thing to do. Take her to the gallows!

I see nothing in your post that warrants that. You used a qualifier and make rather interesting points.

I already stated how. I am wrong in saying that cantkeepitin's Palin is fictional though. By stating in absolution that cantkeepitin's Palin is fictional (false, wrong), I've committed the same error as saying it is real.

If I take the inverse stance against cantkeepitin, I would need to engage in "mind reading" to prove I'm right. According to my knowledge, mind reading isn't practical and even if it is, any conclusions still need to be supported by external actions such as confirmation. Cantkeepitin is neither right nor wrong, so it is wrong to state what he did as absolutely right.
