Would it work if i updated to 4.3.3 via redsn0w itself? The browse button that is.

I have an iphone 4 at iOS 4.1 BB: 02.10.04. Not unlocked and none needed for me. I want to update to 4.3.3 so I can have the latest features. However I dont understand what the news means about ultrasnow not supporting new IPSW. I don't even know what that is. Can someone guide me to a tutorial of some sort perhaps? Google results seem to be a bit unreliable since a few guides say that the jailbreak is tethered when this news says it should be untethered.

Any help appreciated.

I have an iphone 3gs unlocked with PwnageTool, and activated with SAM. My phone still uses ALOT of 3g traffic in standby mode. Why is it doing that and what can I do to resolve the issue?

My iPhone 3gs is still eating battery like a fat kid eats cake after using the SAM solution. I just wanted to check if I did it correctly.
I installed SAM and SAM tools or whatever from cydia. Used redsn0w to "deactivate".
The 3g data usage is still off the roof even in standby and battery very short.

Also, I don't know if I made a mistake by upgrading to the ipad baseband on 4.1 firmware. If so, can i fix it to 4.2.1 somehow?

Thanks in advance.

what capslock on said. No way to unlock without voiding the phones warranty. Also I think my 3gs is a new bootrom as well and it had battery and 3g data issue (using 3g data even when the phone is in standby due to activation problems) but I didn't have any GPS problem.

If you decide to do the unlock then go by the assumption that your GPS will die until (and IF) they find a fix to that.

Is the Jail Break for 4.2.1 still tethered? All the updates seem to be adressing the unlocking (for a good reason obviously) but is there no progress on the jailbreak front so far? The iphone in question is 4th gen if that means anything.

Not an expert but if I understand what I have learned during my experience of being around this blog and having unlocked and jailbroken a few phones you cannot downgrade unless you have saved your SHSH blobs. If you haven't you are stuck on that baseband and ios I'm afraid.

Correct me if I'm wrong here.

Concerning the battery drainage of the iphone. Point A of Sherif's post said I should activate the phone by the original sim. Now I am a bit unclear about this solution. Does the sim card have to be the exact one that you recieved with the phone or will any sim card of that company work?
Also since the phone is not actually asking to be activated or anything how do I activate it now that it is unlocked? Do I have to restore it somehow? As I understood now that I have the iPad baseband I cannot restore the phone from itunes to factory state... How do I do restore then?

Same here. My battery time is under 8 hours in standby. Hope the fix comes soon so we can go back to normal use.
Great job by the Dev-Team though.
