I blame the price hikes on the movie studios licensing fees.
The movie studios fees for access to streaming the movies cost Netflix $180 million in 2010, and now it's up to $730 million.
The movie studios won't be happy until Netflix costs as much as cable, which would make the cable companies pretty happy too.

It's all computer controlled now, and has been for years.
I suspect there was either a physical wiring problem that was missed, or some critical programming error happened on the computer.

If you have the presence of mind to carry a knife into a fight/argument, you are responsible enough to be held accountable for it.

Why the focus on the knife length?
I carried a 7 inch survival knife around when I was a kid and it's not like it found it's way into someone's ribcage.

P.S. The compass on those cheap survival knives are junk...as is rest of the workmanship and materials.

Guys get the short end of the stick all the time in family court.
I can totally understand trying to weed out the frivolous claims from the real ones can be really difficult at times. Still, if there was as much evidence as there seems to be, the judge really messed up on this decision. Perhaps something in the middle like you suggest would be useful. Perhaps a 30 day temporary order for evaluation and cooling off might be effective in spotting or defusing situations like this one.
