Okay, normally I politely refuse to acknowledge small errors in people's writing, but I was left with a wonderful mental image of the devil offering me a butter dress, and that must be acknowledged and shared.

Also crows are the best birds. I am not just saying this because I owe them money.

Okay, there are so many parallels between our lives it's kind of bothering me. I'm a transfeminine ex-angry atheist who was raised apathetically Lutheran. There are some differences: I'm humanities, my angry phase was less Dawkins-inspired and more angry-small-child-starting-riots-in-Sunday-school (I calmed down and got more philosophically pluralist as a mid-teen), and I'm a year old trans in my twenties, part of that younger crop.

And for this past year I've been thinking about spirituality a lot more? It sounds like rituals or magical thinking could be mentally healthy and beneficial and even fun! Yes, it'd be in my head, but if there's anywhere where magic works, it's the mind. But I have no idea where to start, and it's not happening automatically, and I feel like adapting others' traditions would ring phony to me and not work...

You see, what I would have done if I were knight-commander would be to uproot the entire Kirkwall Circle and move it somewhere else in the Free Marches. Even if I don't have the resources to understand why, I'd know from statistics alone that Kirkwall's definitely haunted and a horrible place for a mage circle.

What I wouldn't do is oust the viscount in a military coup, install a new weaker viscount as puppet, do nothing to fight increasingly rampant crime and poverty in the city, clamp down on mages to force them into a state of hostility, illegally turn mages Tranquil for minor offenses, craft mysterious and rare and dangerous red lyrium into a sword rather than send it off for study, seize power directly as a despot once my puppet viscount is killed despite the local laws, and send to Val Royeaux for the Right of Annulment so I can murder hundreds of imprisoned mages before the Chantry boom. Meredith was the entire reason Kirkwall was so fucked up.

It's either a weirdly painted sullen cat with its hind legs hidden by its supremely un-catlike girth and a tail weirdly drawn into the side so that it doesn't look like a two-legged puffball except that it still kind of does OR it's a jaguarundi or coati, the standard go-to's for "weird mammal that nobody recognizes."

I totally believe that I try to be cis all the time not because I want to actually be cis, but because I want access to cis privileges. I want to go about my business like a human and treated as such, unharassed. I don't want stares. I don't want comments on how I look from strangers. I don't want to be compared to Caitlyn Jenner. I don't want to hear unprovoked half-baked "radical" theories of gender that actually just reinforce the status quo and pathologize trans people. I don't want people to assume I'm a sex worker or somehow predatory. I don't want to be assaulted. I just want to go about my business and pursue my sinister agenda of playing Pokémon and geeking out over Icelandic sagas.

I'm in a weak place now. I will grow stronger than you all. :)
