Christians do not need to have "Christian" names. Indeed, in my youth, I saw several young folks who felt it was "necessary" to have a "Christian" name each on becoming Christians. But that is not true. Christians can, and are, be baptised with Chinese names, or names which are commonly used by other ethnic groups. The so-called "Christian" names of the young folks I mentioned weere actually Western names, and the young folks may have been attracted at least to some degree by the "glamour" attached to such names.
Faith is in one's heart; labels like names are secondary.

OK... Najib, as one of the 4 directors (all relatives, including brother Nizam) of his grandfather's Noah Foundation, should have absolutely no problem getting the Foundation to invest some of the hundreds of millions it has in the GOLD MINE, no? On the same terms as Tabung Haji's deal, eh? That would help to silence the loud protests from his critics for sure.
Many, if not most, of the refugees on the boats appear to be Muslims. Where is the support that many usually-vocal Muslim outfits in Malaysia so often proclaim for the fellow Muslims even in far away lands like the Palestine?
These refugees are our fellow human beings. While there is a limit to what Malaysia can do, let us make saving lives a priority, not a matter of political expediency and such.
In the long, protracted run-up to GE13, Najib had been asked about the planned introduction of the GST. His answer was something like "only after GE13, otherwise we'll lose votes". Standard Operating Procedure to hold off such news announcements, eh?
PAS vice-president Tuan Ibrahim, standing firm on Pakatan unity, said "Vote PKR", but PAS president Hadi said "menghormati keputusan akar umbi boikot PKR" (respect decision of grassroot members to boycott PKR" in Shah Alam today. Apa macam ni? Loose cannon president firing at will accoding to his own agenda and whims again?
Tuan Ibrahim hit the nail on the head! SIapa makan cili dia merasa pedas. Takut kerana salah!
No point just talking, Guan Eng, even if what you say makes sense. Show that you back up your words by making sure that you show up to vote aagainst the Sedition Act amendments, even if it is 2am or later. DO NOT let the rakyat down again!
May I ask Ibrahim Ali a simple question - where is the mountain of oil royalty money which is Kelantan's right? Vouched for as so by Ku Li who signed the agreement as Petronas chairman. An agreement which the "honorable" UMNO-dominated BN has simply refused to honour. Answer that before trying to say anything about Tok Guru failing to develoip the state and Kelantan's impoverished economy. Excuse me while I puke, Katak No.1!
I think it is high time that street names be subject to some sort of control rather than have the PM simply announcing it, just as he had when a road in Sungai Besi was renamed Jalan Utusan, or when several roads were renamed by Tengku Adnan (claimed initially supposedly to be the request of royalty, and subsequently refuted). Similar incidents have occurred in other towns.
The public, especially those who live along affected roads or have businesses there, have a right to have a say. Name changes involve a large measure of inconvence and added costs to them. Folks also have a right to be emotionally attached to old road names.
The government and local authorities should respect the rakyat's feelings and rights. At the very least, there should be an avenue for public hearings and opinions to be heard before any name change is approved.
