Be the kindest, softest rock you can be.

I will do my utmost. Thank you for reminding me of my responsibilities as a friend and human being.

No, you're entirely correct, my city is absurdly wealthy and often uncomfortably classist as a result. So I'll definitely be asking about income diversity, and also about POC and out queer people in positions of power/influence. (Again, I really ought to have considered this, and hadn't, so thank you for pointing it out!)

Thank you!

In the event that I hate college, I will take comfort in knowing that I am on the path to becoming an Internet Goddess / Maker of Bloomers, which is really a very good, very Toastie-like fate.

"I would have interned everywhere."

Very useful advice; will attempt to follow; thank you kindly for it!

I had not considered this, but now that you mention it, the idea of living with my best friends, whom I love dearly, sounds absolutely horrific. Thank you for pointing this out.

"Be in love as often as it happens to you, but fall in love with yourself first."

This is not dumb advice. I have literally zero experience with romantic relationships and any guidance is welcome. Staying out of serious ones for the first few years of college sounds like a pretty solid plan. My hope and expectation is that, being cis and male, I won't encounter too much douchecanoery about marriage (except as it relates to being queer, which is another bunch of coconuts entirely), but in the event that I do, yours is the advice I will turn to.
That said, thank you so much for all of your advice. I'm definitely going to re-read this thread at about this time next year; it has so many helpful kernels of wisdom.

Also, out of curiosity: where did you begin when you started learning software programs? What first captured your interest? This is an area in which I have no experience and am looking to broaden my knowledge.
