As a result, I believe that I may have found a logical flaw in the basis of these conversations and this logical flaw centers on the word "precedent".
I am a Catholic, I am a grandfather of 5, I am a 20-year military veteran, including Vietnam, and, also by the grace of God, I managed to earn both a M.S. in Physics and a M.B.A. You can be assured that every judgment I will make in the days to come will absolutely be based in substantive part on this background. All the facts of whatever circumstance I will face will obviously remain facts; however, if I end up having to judge this circumstance, the facts and my background will have equal weight in this judgment. To ignore this background of mine would be tantamount to ignoring myself. The only logical requirement in this future judgment is that the application of my background does not negate these facts.
Personally, I would never "hire" Judge Sotomayor if she were a machine simply counting facts.
Now to the logical flaw I believe I have found throughout all these conversations with Judge Sotomayor. If a precedent or a judgment is not based on the original set of 10 "precedents" handed down by Almighty God, I firmly submit this precedent or judgment is inherently flawed.
If we mortals submit that the precedents established within human case law are the only precedents to follow, then we, like Adam and Eve, are saying that only we mortals have the inherent right to determine what is good and what is evil. We are abrogating God's immutable precedents and substituting our own.
That is simply a repeat of Original Sin, which got this human race into so much trouble eternally speaking.
In spite of all the human facts in a given case and in spite of all the human case precedents, if the final judment of the court is not in full agreement with God's facts, with God's Law, this judgment should never be rendered, e.g., Roe v. Wade.
Thank you very, very much for listening.

Okay .. but what about this extract from today's Washington Post:
'When a few protesters interrupted President Obama's speech at the Notre Dame graduation by shouting, "Stop killing our children!" the student body replied by chanting, "Yes, we can."'
That report positively disgusts me to the core.
Got a short, but very, very serious Canon Law question:
Is any "Catholic" who votes for a Pro-Choice politician automatically excommunicated? My scant reading of Canon Law seems to say "Yes".
What is your take?

It is clear that the event is being printed as a possible suicide. However, was it? Maybe it was; after all our God-given conscience is a fierce judge and the CFO may not have been able to withstand his conscience's indictment.

To get things going here, my nomination is "I dreamed a dream" from Les Miserables. I direct you also to this link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lp0IWv8QZY
What gets my vote are several things of note:
(1) the stark similarity of the song title with the title of Martin Luther King's famous speech
(2) the lyrics in the song just resonate in my heart .. dreaming of days-gone-by
(3) at the very end of the above You Tube video the judges all said that at the very beginning the contestant Susan Boyle didn't stand a chance .. very similarly, the politicians never gave the nationwide Tea Party movement a chance
Anyway, sit back, relax and enjoy the music and see if you want to stand up and shout.
God Bless You, One and All.

I met my future wife during my 2nd tour of duty at K.I. Sawyer AFB (1962) outside of Marquette, Michigan (the Upper Peninsula).
In 1967, I was in a "cushy" science/computer job at Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio. With the outbreak of the war in Vietnam, I just knew that I had to volunteer to go defend my country .. I felt driven .. it was no impulse, I assure you. I was angry at those that chose to flee America to escape the draft; and I chose to do the opposite by serving.
During the last duty assignment in 1979, I suffered a cerebral hemorrhage from which the doctors said I would never live, or if I lived, from which I would never fully recover. By the grace of Almighty God, I lived and fully recovered .. it was a true first-class miracle in every sense of the word.
I cannot explain it .. but I feel driven now, driven out of love of our country, to somehow be a voice, be a force, be something good to counter what I see going on in Washington, D.C.
Again, in the interest of full disclosure, I am certain that I definitely do not know what Our Blessed Lord wants this almost-69-year-old man to do, I really don't. Ole Saint Paul had it easy .. he was "knocked off his white horse" and told point-blank by the Real Boss what to do. But I do not .. so the best I can do is to just listen and see if I detect God's Whisper "John, I want you to do this .. .."
Thanks for listening everyone.
