As I have said many times, I know I am living in the past. But at what point does college sports get too big for its britches? When does this stop?
(Now get off my lawn.)

I too am jaded on where college athletics are (and have been) headed. Don't we already have pro leagues for all this non$en$e?

I do disagree with you that it is a "good" thing that - "Adding Nebraska and helping the Big 12 along with its breakup should open the door for an even better bowl lineup". I don't like to see the break up of the B12 and the emergence of the superconferences.
This is not corporate America. This is college sports. Since when is the purpose of colleges and universities to maximize profits? I know, I know - I am desperately living in the past. Is that wrong?
I am an Iowa alum. I like the status quo. I like that we play Minnesota for a pig every year. I like that there are so many other traditions in college sports. Stanford - Cal is classic. There are so many more, and they are not going to disappear. But these traditions are going to fade over time.
Maybe not even in my lifetime. But this is not unlike the disappearance of Mom & Pop shops in the business world.
Maybe I am being too dramatic. But I don't enjoy the direction this is going.

There are already plenty of pro sports to watch. I did not know that the purpose of colleges and universities was to generate profits. But I do know that this revenue generation has helped the UI. We can pay a very, very competent football coach top dollar.
But I think we are headed in the wrong direction. 20 years from now I wonder what this is all going to look like.
Off my soapbox. You kids can now get off my yard!!
