It's comparing being criticized by a stranger v. being criticized by someone you are close to.

Then the parent-child part, is just showing how a parent criticizes the child out of love, to be affective.

yea, I remember learning it in HS and it stuck with me.

Thanks, So far I'm making it. I've got a wonderful husband to remind me to count :-)

(It's funny, he was reading the halachos of whether women should count, and it said that husbands should remind their wives to count)
