My mother is fond of saying "I'm a terrible mother" in her Lucille voice.

Listen I saw this the other day and now I'm feeling smug about being lazy. So to people who do CrossFit: all my respect and awe. To those like me who don't: look, we have a good reason that isn't "it sounds really hard"!

I use to watch this with my dad when I was little but he would always send me out of the room when the political officer "slipped on his tea." It was years before I saw what happened. Strangely the shoot out didn't bother him.

I say I would have liked to have seen Montana ALL THE TIME. Also "some things in here don't react well to bullets." It is my favorite movie ever and honest to God got me to major in Russian in college and gave me a life-long crush on Jonesy.

Pregnancy hormones flooding every bit of my mind, body, and soul this morning, THANK YOU SO MUCH for declaring your love for this movie, I think it might get me through my day.

I would set this up -- and embroider other Mallory/Toast-isms -- in an instant if I didn't think it was probably morally unacceptable to make money off of Mallory et al.'s brain. Maybe if I donate half the profits to the site?

We're setting up the baby's room now (due in 7.5 weeks!) and I'm pretty sure what it really needs is an embroidered "gender is a spectrum of behaviors not a fixed identity." I'll even add some cute animals to the side.

It also means that for every thing x, there exist AT LEAST ONE pair of people, A and B, that have different preferences over thing x. So A and B could agree on everything except x, and every pair of people except A and B agree on x. So all hope is not lost. It also doesn't say how much A and B care about x. Maybe A prefers x to y and B prefers y to x but neither really cares that much about either and they can still be best friends and anyhow that way A gives B those fried eggs that she doesn't really like and in exchange B gives A the buttery toast that came on the side and everyone goes home happy.

Anyone have good work advice on responding to a negative review? I just found out there have been complaints about my work. I'm torn because a) perhaps they should have mentioned those to me first instead of going to my manager? but b) I know I've been distracted lately and my productivity has suffered. Any advice on the best way to respond to this? Should I contact the people who made complaints and apologize/ask for more advice? Or should I just try to do better?

I'm frustrated (at myself as much as at them) because I've been here for three years and I'm making about 3% more than when I started. I want to be paid more and valued more but at the same time I feel like I don't deserve it. Ugh.

I came very close to saying "well, I've been distracted because I'm pregnant" but restrained myself because I don't really think that's to blame so why contribute to negative stereotypes about pregnant women? Ugh. I'm upset. At them and myself.
