True. I guess she's far less badass than she would like others to believe- methinks I sense some jealousy when it comes to Buffy?

Y'know, I have to wonder if Walsh was running away and screaming in part because she was in public. After all, not many professors know how to react to a screaming demon rushing them.

Oh, God, now I'm picturing Spike dressed as Catwoman. THIS NEEDS TO BE A THING, INTERNET.
Or not. But it would make me giggle.

That line about them not being able to help being silly is such a great one- too many times authors take the 'MY heroine is better than YOUR heroine' route by belittling the other characters. Cimorene is just exasperated, which I love.
Kazul is THE BOMB. The whole 'King of the Dragons' thing blew my mind when I was a kid, and then got me thinking about WHY it blew my mind. I then decided that it shouldn't be that odd.
I know movie adaptions won't really ever happen, but whenever I read them I wanted a movie just so I could see Sandra Bullock as Cimorene and (hear) Whoopi Goldberg as Kazul.
This was the 90's, can you tell? :P

There are just SO MANY great characters! I love her concept, which is basically 'Create fairy tale world. Add common sense.' Cimorene, Morwen, Shiara... so many smart, competent, funny women. I'm so glad I grew up in a time when I didn't have just Anne Shirley or Pollyanna to read about.

You? Are kind of brilliant. The Goldman spirit is alive in you.

Best books ever, y/y? Cimorene is the ass-kicking-est of heroines, and Mendenbar is actually her equal.

Mairelon the Magician! Oh god, I LOVE that book (and anything by Patricia C. Wrede, really). I've read it so many times! I always kinda wished there could've been a movie adaption just so I could see Ewan McGregor as Mairelon.
