Come to VA, where our unemployment rate is still under 7%, and our state reps aren't afraid to cut programs(even ones that are "necessary" like the rest areas). Jobs are still here and taxes haven't increased.

Welcome to your economics class 101. When taxes go up, business ceased to invest. No investment means no jobs, no jobs means no tax revenue, no revenue means no government spending(too bad it doesn't work at the federal level they can just print more and devaluate the dollar-side note this increases prices as well). No government spending means more spending by individuals thus price increases. Also there is this pesky little thing called TENURE which is sucking your tuition up. So if you don't want to pay more, then learn the basic business cycle. If it is bad for business, eventually it is bad for you!

How do you improve on absolute freedom with an government that is supposed to provide only national defense, be an arbiter, and run the postal service? The congress was to represent the people, and the Senate was to represent the states(hence they were elected by the state legislators and not the people until the 1900's). If we went back to the Constitution, with the small changes like term limits, equal voting rights, and The Fair Tax(not an income tax), then we would have Eden on earth again.
