If strict gun control laws work then why do people still get shot in the UK? Why was there just a shooting rampage in Germany? Why were the terrorist able to take over that hotel in Mumbai? Why are there still murders in Chicago?

The answer is that legislation written because it makes people feel good doesn't work. You can't legislate morality you can only teach it.

Lets take laws against murder. Murder is morally wrong, and there are laws against this. Yet people still commit murder. It is impossible to legislate away the ills of the world, but it is possible to legislate the means to defend your family, friends, and the people around you.
