I clean the hell out of my house to passive-aggressively one up my sisters-in-law, who are both conservative Christians and think a woman's place is in the home but are not that great at housekeeping or decorating. Their own passive-aggressive judgment of me has kind of made me a little nuts, so I get my digs where I can.

Thing she did NOT lie about: the petty levels to which people can stoop about virtually anything. Reference: basically the entire book Rainbow Valley. The way the Merediths were treated? Bad. Kitty Alec Davis? Worse. Ellen telling Rosemary she can't marry the man she loves because of a promise she'd made 10 years prior? Horrific.
