And actually, it does have to do with Obama; Obama nominated him for director of HUD.

But yes, Republicans and Democrats are equally capable of wasting money. However, don't confuse Liberal with Democrat, or Conservative with Republican. Liberalism and Conservatism are ideologies. Democrat and Republican are political parties.

What we have are unethical people. People who don't have integrity. People that do what they've got to do to get reelected for the simple reason that they've got to get reelected. I believe most of our politicians are very smart people, just deplorable. Now, it's been worse before, but it's getting bad.
Back in the 1880s, I think it was, in Saint Louis, the government officials distinguished between good graft and bad graft (graft is the acquisition of gain (as money) in dishonest or questionable ways). I forget what the difference was between the two that made them good or bad. The point is, however, they were so corrupt that they justified their corruption by saying, there's a difference between good and bad corruption. I don't believe we're to that point, but it's getting there.
So, what I'm saying is, you're right that there isn't an incentive to do those jobs if they pay "**it." But, I think it's a different problem. It's a problem with the culture of politics.
