David, Israeli Arabs are citizens and have been so since 1948. They also received full rights in 1966 when the military administration was lifted (although they did, for example, have the right to vote before then). By way of contrast, native Americans were only granted citizenship in 1924 - some 148 years after US independence and 60 years after the emancipation of the slaves.

Desch and I talked about the fact that David Ben-Gurion and recently Benny Morris have expressed the same attitude.

This is factually inaccurate. He may have toyed with the idea, but Ben-Gurion did not advocate any such thing. As Benny Morris noted in the 2004 Ha'aretz interview conducted by Ari Shavit, he faulted Ben-Gurion for not following through with the complete ethnic cleansing of all Palestinian Arabs.

First of all, I think that Jay is being just a bit hyperbolic when she speaks of "genocide". Between 1935 and 1945 the European Jewish population declined by about 50%. That was genocide. Between 1915 and 1917 the Armenian population of the Ottomon Empire declined by around 50%. That was genocide. In contrast, in the 42 years of Israeli occupation, the Palestinian population in the West Bank and Gaza doubled. That is certainly not genocide. (But then, we live in a time when the economic crisis of 2008-9 has been equated with the Great Depression and conditions Gaza have been equated with those in the Warsaw Ghetto.)

The fact that Amy Jay is a Jew is irrelevant. She is just plain wrong-headed, and as she says in her poem the fact that Israelis were victims of Holocaust does not justify their actions in relation to the Palestinians. Well, the same can be said for Jay - just in reverse. Also, the fact that she is young and from the Bay Area, and that somehow this signifies something about the future just makes me laugh. Remember Mario Savio?

Of course there was. Remember the scene in the bed&breakfast run by a Jewish couple?

Schvitzing does mean "sweating" in Yiddish, but not in the English sense. It actually is more like "showing off".

I don't know about Edwards, but McKinney's first defeat had nothing to do with AIPAC or Jewish money, rather it had to do with the crossover vote of Republicans in the 2002 primaries. The idea that this was somehow connected directly with Jewish money had to do with the fact that her father appeared on television the night before the election and claimed that "Jews have bought everybody ... J-E-W-S." That was the extent of it.

In 2006, McKinney was turned out of office by the voters because, basically, she is a nut who, among other things, attacked a Capitol Police Officer for demanding her identification.

This is how Aluf Benn (apparently the source of the story) put it in Ha'aretz:

A photo released by the White House, which shows Obama talking on the phone with Netanyahu on Monday, speaks volumes: The president is seen with his legs up on the table, his face stern and his fist clenched, as though he were dictating to Netanyahu: "Listen up and write 'Palestinian state' a hundred times. That's right, Palestine, with a P." As an enthusiast of Muslim culture, Obama surely knows there is no greater insult in the Middle East than pointing the soles of one's shoes at another person. Indeed, photos of other presidential phone calls depict Obama leaning on his desk, with his feet on the floor.

So, what you're saying is that Obama is a liar? Well shut my mouth!

Show me where Stone's positions are biased then. Then we can discuss matters on their substance and not ad hominem. And might I remind you that being "well outside the mainstream" is not indicative of anything. Opposition to slavery in early 19th century America was "well outside the mainstream". Most of the rest of the world actually respects Israel's decision to declare its capital as (the Western part of) Jerusalem. That's why ambassadors present their credentials at the official residence of the President and why they attend other official events in Jerusalem.

From Wikipedia: "An ad hominem argument, also known as argumentum ad hominem (Latin: "argument to the man", "argument against the man") consists of replying to an argument or factual claim by attacking or appealing to a characteristic or belief of the person making the argument or claim, rather than by addressing the substance of the argument or producing evidence against the claim." Your argument about Julius Stone was (and is) ad hominmen. I suggest that a more stronger approach would be for you to find someone who argues on the facts of the law rather than on Stone's character.

It is not up to Shirin to decide where Israel, or any other country, places its capital. Prior to 1980 there were 13 countries that had their capitals in Jerusalem. My other arguments stand.
