I don't know what Magnus has to say but here's what Jerry has to say. While I'm all for free speech, I find it difficult to understand how the Salisbury Post can justify giving a member of a Domestic Terrorist Group space in the LTE's. No Shelter, or other Animal Rights grup in the world kills more animals than PETA, they put down 95% of all animals they take in. They can even take credit for the deaths of some people in the form of bombings at Research Laboratories. They don't always kill their animials legally, just look at what they did in Ashoskie NC. The Salisbury Post has gone too far to publish a letter from such a disgusting group of Radicals as PETA. They have shown their true colors, and it's yellow journalism like this that has brought them financially to their knees.

The top reasons for animals surrendered are "Moving" and can't take the dog with them, and "Landlord" issues. Most pet owners do have their animals altered. We don't have an overpopulation problem as much as we have an owner retention problem.

Chief, if you want your money to do some good, use it to buy food, towels, etc. and donate them to to the Rowan County Animal Shelter. The County owned-and operated shelter is accountable for where its money is spent. Faithful Friends has questionable motives as their leader has been been known to make statements that are radically Animal Rights in nature, and the model for their operation, and training ground for their leader, "Best Friends" in Utah had it's beginnings as "The Process Church" a religious cult that practiced Satan worship. They changed the focus of their organization to animal rescue because they were going broke as a religious cult. Now they not only raise big bucks in the name of animal rescue, they recruit others to their training seminars where they're taught to exploit the plight of homeless animals to bring in cash.

It's important to note that the FBI often has at the top of it's top 10 Domestic Terrorist Threats in the US Radical Animal Rights Roups such as PETA and HSUS, the Humane Society of the United States. Just last week one of their radical extremists made the top of the FBI's most wanted lists. These people are truly sick.

Sorry Chief, but most of the Work Faithful Friends does is raise money for themselves. They have publically stated they only take in "Highly Adoptable" animls, which means the easy to sell ones. They are not doing dogs like the ones at the Shelter much good at all. Despite their existence of more than 2 years, and donations of 100's of 1000's of dollars along with acres of land, most people who call Faithful Friends with found strays or soon to be homeless dogs seeking help, get turned down flat.

Given the outcome, it makes you wonder if the Shelter Director was really that stupid, or if this was a deliberate act to get rid of that gas chamber. What is the statute of limitations on acts of domestic terrorism?

As someone with veins that are difficult to find, I can personally say that the dog who was stuck 3 to 4 times likely experienced more pain and discomfort than than the dog in the Sunday write-up that quietly went to sleep in 15 seconds. Why was there no account of a feral cat injection? And finally when will The Post kick in to fill the gap between Rowan County and Mecklenberg's budgets? Not really comparing apples to apples are they?

You would think being supposedly "Animal Lovers" these Rabid Animal Rights Activists would not want to make a side-show out of the last minutes of these animals' lives. Let them die with dignity!

HB6 "Davies Bill" died in committe, it is no longer being considered. It didn't need CO2 or Injection to kill it, just common sense. Thank you Legislators!
