I Joe B. Porter Master Sgt. United States Army, Retired, do hereby apologize for not keeping my oath.
I gave 23 1/2 years of my life to the defense of my country and its Constitution. During that time I enlisted and then reenlisted numerous times. Each time that I did so I took a solemn oath. Part of that oath was a promise that I would defend and protect our Constitution against all enemies both foreign and domestic. I have failed to meet these requirements.
During my service I have left my blood on the battlefields of Vietnam and I watched as many of my friends paid the ultimate price with their lives, and in the name of freedom for those oppressed, we did serve.
I served my country with both honor and dignity and was willing to give my life in their defense. I defended our Constitution against foreign enemies however I did not defend it against the domestic enemies I have did nothing to keep our politicians from completely destroying our Constitution and for this I deeply apologize and ask forgiveness.
I love my country and the Constitution which it is founded and believe that the only way for this country to survive is to return to the basic principles on which our country was founded. It is time for us to send a message to our politicians and let them know that they work for us and that politics was not meant to be a career. We need to let them know at the ballot box that it's time for a change back to the principles on which this country was founded.
Again I ask your forgiveness for not keeping my oath but let us ensure that our politicians are made to uphold their oath of office for it is basically the same as the one I took, that they should defend and protect our Constitution against all enemies both foreign and domestic.
God bless and be with you and the United States of America.
Joe B. Porter
Master Sgt, U.S. Army
