I have vowed for a long time to not ride Metro unless absolutely necessary once I get a car/motorcycle. I can't stand riding Metro any more. It sucks because it makes it such a pain to visit my family.

For instance, between the various delays on the red line and waiting for buses, it took me nearly two hours to get from College Park to AU yesterday. Two hours! I could have driven from the Eastern Shore to my mom's house in that amount of time. And that was during Friday rush hour. There's something horribly wrong with that.

Doesn't look bad. I understood what it was trying to convey pretty quickly.

Still wondering how they'll fit the entire silver line though.

The French and Chinese do it pretty well, so that's a cop-out. Then again WMATA does everything horribly...

especially when we all know Hitler eventually fell, while WMATA will probably continue sucking for the foreseeable future (and then some)

We can communicate with people many miles up in space. We can get a live video feed in DC of troops carrying out a mission in Afghanistan. Surely it can't be that difficult to have a reliable radio that covers the whole Metro system?

God I hate Metro so, so much. I'm tempted to take out an auto loan just so I don't give these philistines another cent of my money.

Literally the worst experience ever. I was going from Greenbelt to Tenleytown. The trip from Greenbelt to Gallery Place was fine... the Green Line is usually pretty good. But Gallery Place was a hellhole. First the red line platform was totally packed because both the SG and Glenmont trains were arriving on one side of the platform. Next, it took 20 minutes for a SG-bound train to show up (after two Glenmont trains came by). When it pulled in to the station, it went all the way to the front of the platform (as they always do), so there was a stampede to catch up to the train. People almost couldn't get off (there were a couple WMATA employees and no MTPD) or get on the train.

Had I waited for another train or two, that would have been about 30 minutes of pure waiting. Which is about how long it would take for me to drive from Greenbelt to Tenleytown. I swear, if I had a car I would NEVER ride Metro unless it was to get to a concert or sporting event (since the only thing worse than Metro in that case is parking). I'm a UMD student and my parents don't live too far from campus, but I'm reluctant to visit them on the weekends (which are generally the only time I can go) simply because it means dealing with Metro.

The day I get a car will literally be the best day of my life for the rest of my life.

Knowing WMATA, they would probably end up accidentally donating money to al-Qaeda.

Another excellent move from an organization that has reduced crime on Metro to zero.

Oh wait.

And yes, that comment is directed toward their managers, not the officers themselves.

Didn't take it on the day of the earthquake, took it Saturday morning. On Saturday it was fine, but it wasn't anything special. I still had to wait about 10 minutes for a train at College Park and then I had to do the Gallery Place Dash on the Red Line platform since these god damn trains still go all the way to the front of the platform. Metro won't be unsucked until that gets fixed.
