They are both pertinent -- because both are bad, and both are typical of government solutions. Nationalized single-payer healthcare -- and make no mistake about it -- that is EXACTLY what this President and this Congress are after -- will bankrupt this country and will destroy the best healthcare system in the world.

They can put all the lipstick on this pig they want, but it is still a pig. The "public option" will lead to Socialized single-payer healthcare. That is their aim -- not because they are evil, but because they truly believe that they can make it work -- even though it has been a disaster everywhere it his been tried.

Progressives just believe they are right -- and no amount of failure will ever convince them they are wrong. We can wipe out poverty by just throwing more money at it -- after 40 years of failure we are increasing our welfare system even more. War on drugs DITTO!

NO government program EVER saves money - bureaucracies do NOT work that way. Ask any veteran how well the VA system works -- and google the "VA Death Book" that might sound over the top, but what would YOU call it when the government provides a booklet telling veterans to consider giving up?

Can healthcare be made better -- SURE -- by getting the government OUT of it -- I mean SOMEHOW we managed to create the best healthcare system in the world without the government -- most of the problems have come about since the government became involved.

This is the typically simplistic and totally misunderstood view of government, tax policy and spending. FYI, PROVEN in the 1920s, 1960s, 1980s and 2000s, when you CUT taxes for everyone [yes, even for the rich] tax revenues go UP! The government took in MORE money AFTER the tax cuts [gasp] and even with government spending continuing to go through the roof [HINT: Congress controls spending -- the president proposes, congress disposes] the deficit WAS GOING DOWN for three years until the meltdown in 2008.

TAX CUTS do NOT cause deficits -- runaway government spending causes deficits! Buying into the rhetoric of "tax cuts for the rich" is playing their game. I have news for you -- YOUR taxes are going up! Next year! No matter how much or little you make, your taxes will be going up!
