If you want to hear this story in greater detail, go to Radio Lab online, they do a great job of presenting this story. I heard it a couple months ago, pretty amazing.
Then you don't believe the bible is THE word of God. Some Christian you turned out to be former "atheist".
Is it possible for you to do one of two things, either answer the question I asked you OR make a comment relevant to the point I made. You are like an emotional child just spewing words that make no sense. First I asked how I contribute to suicides (your claim not mine) which you avoided. Second, I never said that gay teens kill themselves because they think they are sinners. The whole point I have made and the same one the Savage made is the FACT that most of the fuel for bullying and hatred towards gays comes from the Bible. The kids that do the bullying get their fuel from religion. It allows them to believe it is ok to treat gays poorly. Are these points clear enough for you, please no straw-men this time around.
Read the Old Testament, that should clear some things up for you.
Well put and the exact point I made in my earlier comments. Which you can see I got "crucified" for (pun intended) in the comments and ratings. Some how pointing out errency in the bible is equal to bullying a young mind to the point of suicide. Thanks fellow atheist.
Bigotry and bullying are two totally difference topics. If you are paying attention to the comments here and the ratings you can see that clearly our society is exactly like that. That is the whole point. I am also not saying it is right but to say that Savage is doing the same thing to those kids that bully's do to gay teens is way off the mark...or are you saying it is the same?
What the hell are you talking about? Can you please tell me how I contribute to suicides? It is amazing that you know me, I am pretty sure we never met...and by the way, the reason people believe homosexuality is a sin and a ticket to hell is exactly because it is a Christian law.
So you think Dan pointing out the fact that we can cherry pick the bible and either choose to legitimize hateful statements or is equal to a gay teen being bullied to a point of killing him or her self? You are putting his statement on equal ground is that right? How many of those Christian kids are at risk of killing themselves after what he said...probably...zero. Why, because he is not bullying them, there is a HUGE difference in the statement he made and being bullied to the point of someone taking their own life. If you think it is the same and on equal ground then you are either clueless or just like to believe things that aren't true. My guess it it could be a bit of both. By the way, I don't see what the hell his income has to do with anything.
How many of those Christian kids are at risk of killing themselves because of Dan's soft and very short critique of the bible? Probably zero. He is addressing an issue and the source that results in gay teens committing suicide because of the constant intolerance and aggressive hatred towards them. I think the comparison of his statement, being directed at a religion and not a specific individual, is nowhere in the ballpark of what some of these gay teens go through. If one is going to support a book that contains such a hateful position you should prepare to be insulted when it gets called out for what it is.
