Think Peepli Live is another Slumdog Millionaire and did we see any change after the first one?
There will be a tug at our hearts while watcing it and nothing further than that..

It may go well with the international audience just like Slumdog Millionaire(and bring in the revenue) but we dont care enough to change anything..

Of course no one is dumb as to blv in Rahul's contribution.. but what I meant is that most dont want to shake the basket... they would prefer to see the Sensex climb higher rather than shake this govt.... after all, the big guys who are on top are definitely helped by the politicians and vice versa... be it any party...nd unfortunately the ordinary citzens who are invested have no choice either!

Vinod, now that everyone is looking at the sensex with bated breath, who is bothered with the dynasty? You utter one word and out comes the reply.. look at the growth! as for those who cannot afford to even spell sensex, the numbers are growing higher day by day.. but who cares? in the end even they shall vote for their Rahul Saab.

But the media’s irresponsibility was glaring during the recent event where the Prof. hand got chopped. I remember reading the initial reports when the question paper came to light and how majority of the media hid the facts. One had to scourge the net for a copy of the question paper and also the author of the play. Things were reported in such a manner as to incite the passion of a few who were waiting for a chance. After the Prof. was sacked, he was still being hunted down with the full knowledge of the police as well as the College Management. Neither of them helped him and he lost his hands. As for the religious leaders, it is best not to mention them.. most of them want only the power, just like the politicians.
Nd now one shall wait for more drama from the media on the 24th even if have been asked to show restraint. There shall be non-stop breaking news and exclusive reports.

Prasanth seems to be from Kerala and he has rightly pointed out the situation there. There are many areas in Kerala where communities stick together and where they don’t. If you remember, neither the Bombay riots nor the Sikh riots could tear it apart, since the trust has been built over the years. One needs to give the credit to the Communists too.

Missed commenting on your earlier posts..
You have written aptly and it is painful to remember how even the media is corrupt. All they want is sensational news and they don’t care whom they hurt. When they should be bridging gaps, they are only widening it. They may be acting on their own on or on the whims of the political parties but most of them are not doing right.

and...the poverty level that India is facing now could be similar or even lesser to the one US itself faced years back. But as everyone keeps reminding us.. we are still a developing nation.. while we admit that the greed among the governing class has slowed down this process, it will not remain thus for ever.
As for US, if you don’t provide the free lunch that so many(not just the hungry kids) are accustomed to, then please be prepared to face the guns that are even more freely available.

Jeff.. Thanks for reminding about India’s poverty level.. but let me also gently remind you that the going was good for US all these years but tides can change..
•The poverty rate in 2008 (13.2 percent) was the highest poverty rate since 1997 but was 9.2 percentage points lower than in 1959, the first year for which poverty estimates are available.
•Since 1960, the number of people below poverty has not exceeded the 2008 figure of 39.8 million people.[1]
•The poverty rate increased for children under 18 years old (19.0 percent in 2008 -- up from 18.0 percent in 2007) and people 18 to 64 years old (11.7 percent in 2008 -- up from 10.9 percent in 2007), while it remained statistically unchanged for people 65 years and over (9.7 percent).[2]

Ouch! this one is going to hurt for sure. Maybe they have taken it too far but then at the same time, haven’t our Sena’s done the same too? I had a visit to Nisha’s face book site and this is what she has written in reply to a comment.____http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=49641698651... here is what I think. I think, that for women behaving well is no guarantee of protection from violence. Each successive right-wing group can decide that they will best benefit from stripping us of each of our rights. If one morning, a group beat up women for trying to vote or another group beat up women for seeing a male doctor, would we then worry about appearances? Would we say then let me be as sweet as possible so that all these people on the fence dont support these crazy people?____The temptation is high because we are all taught, men and women, that if women are dignified then they are safe. But dignity is tissue-thin and ripped away at any second by someone else. So actually being sweet and serious is going to get us nowhere. I would rather teach my daughter to stand her ground if she can and laugh at the beast (or run super-fast if she can't!).

I only wish these men are re-born as women in these countries.

Who will educate them? who can change their mindset? A mother can only be as strong as the man beside her. She cannot do it alone.

I pray India does not go backward. If you look around, no society where women is suppressed has progressed. I am not sure if Women didnt go to gurukuls earlier, but we had our share of strong women. Isnt Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi and Indian? How about Indira Gandhi?
