I believe the general concern is for those of us that do not want strangers to know information they could potentially use to have our identities stolen and would like to protect that. Currently you can only find me on facebook if you know my name or email. I would like to keep it that way. i don't want every tom, di.ck and harry to find me online.
All they need is a name and they can steal your identity. And unless you have visited every site that publishes your physical address (go use a site like 'dexknows.com' then see all the results that pop up under it,no one cares about privacy and with just your name they will post your address, phone number and any other information they have about you) you will never really have any privacy. I am saddened to see them go this way but that is the way of the world now, nothing is private.
It's not so much that I have not said something i wouldn't say in real life - but more that i don't believe in giving my name out on the internet because those who want to steal identities. There are also times that I don't say what the popular consensus is, because of that opinion and I don't feel that I should be stalked by a zealot. I take my internet privacy very seriously.
The problem is that people will still have your name and picture. That can have personal repercussions plus now a days people out do do malicious things (such as steal your identity) don't need that much information, your name and location will do just fine.
What might be a *better* idea is to have your account tied to a facebook account then have the option to have an anonymous user name. That will give those of us who would like to protect our identity a way to do it, but still give accountability because you the moderators/administrators will know that we are real people and not just a dummy account that was created to flame people.
Plus you can not deny that just because we may not like an opinion, does not mean it is not a valid one. There are those that say things to flame other posters but there are others who truly hold that opinion and that should be respected.
....Once again.... they ruled on whether the law banning gay marriage was constitutional.... that is NOT the same as legislating from the bench... And quite frankly we have much more serious issues in the state then whether or not two people can get married.... So perhaps those legislators should be doing THEIR jobs and working on the *actual* problems facing Iowa.
...Try me... Tell me how a family of three with a baby sleeping in the house posed a threat to these two boys and they needed to protect someone by setting the house on fire. I am willing to listen.
I am sorry but how was 'protecting someone' setting a house on fire with a family in it?
Dear K C R G, Anime and Animation are the same thing...qatlho'
Actually MOST developed countries have a uniform for their public schools, and almost all private schools have some sort of uniform. Uniforms take away distractions like baggy pants and low cut tops. They also make it harder to tell who are the 'haves' and 'have nots' as clothing can be a symbol of what you can afford.
THAT makes a little more sense...
