Nitpick, but they DO rerelease games just for graphical updates these days. Look at the slew of HD Collections for the PS3 - Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, God of War, and Metal Gear Solid just to name the ones that instantly jump to mind.
Oh indeed, just as it is with Majora's Mask, which happens to be my favorite. It's a shame that great games like this can get overlooked simply because the console's successor has been announced.
Looks like we have another Majora's Mask on our hands, guys. A great Zelda game that doesn't sell so well because it is released very late into a console's life.
I definitely think it was intentionally set that high, but not for those reasons. The PS Vita has been in development for quite a long time. Nintendo sets their new handheld price at $250 - much higher than the cost of parts - so that when Sony has to set the price of the PS Vita, they HAVE to set it competitively with the 3DS - anything more than $250 (which is already exorbitant for a handheld) and people are far more likely to grab a 3DS instead.
Flash forward to now. Sony set the Vita price at $250 for the basic model - selling at a loss for them. Nintendo slashes their 3DS price to the bone, making it much more in line with a handheld price. Come holiday season, those who are undecided are far more likely to buy a 3DS than a Vita - $80 is a huge difference.
In short, Nintendo set the price higher in order to force Sony to price their handheld competitively so that Nintendo could then undercut them.
Definitely an interesting point, and I would actually be all for making some basic NES classics available for free downloads. Zelda, Super Mario Bros. and Metroid are games that everybody should play at some point, and removing the cost barrier would be a big step toward that.
It's no coincidence that I love that dungeon. =P
While I don't want a Zelda set fully in futuristic settings, I think it would be very, very cool to have a dungeon with a heavy industrial theme. Say, for example, there is a massive door in a large central chamber. The door needs to be activated by electricity, and in order to open it Link has to turn on three electrical generators somewhere in the dungeon. Puzzles involve steam, pistons, and other industrial devices.
Oh man I want this dungeon.
Axle, I'm curious: Would you be opposed to a Majora's Mask remake for the 3DS in the sense that they simply use OoT's updated engine with a few tweaks to accommodate Majora's Mask's systems, but with no new content - just the graphical and control updates? My impression from the video is that you are opposed to them spending time creating new content for an already stellar game that does not need new content. Is this correct?
I may be mistaken, but I seem to remember reading somewhere during the E3 news that Miyamoto confirmed a title is in the works.
Just a tip: there are two 100 Rupee chests hidden in Clock Town that reset every cycle. One is above the Archery range; head all the way down near the Mayor's office, go up the steps leading to the platform over the gate outside. Jump across the gap, then jump on the targets above the Honey and Darling Shop. Jump across over to the Archery building, around the corner, and there is a 100 Rupee chest. Use that to buy your stuff again.
Another one is on the way to the Observatory. Instead of heading straight down the waterway, head to the left. Mind the Big Skultulla, and then use the Blast Mask/a bomb to destroy the wall in a nearby alcove. 100 Rupees again!
Between these two chests, I never had to worry about cash.
