I have nothing against nice streets at all, and no aversion to paying for them, IF they are nice. There aren't many that have been re-done correctly and the budget has been used elsewhere. As for the property tax "relief."....i seriously doubt we will see any. Our streets have looked like WWII for a while. I have seen very little correct improvement on the ones that exist, other than oil and gravel on older roads instead of a layer of asphalt. Widening Collins Rd. is fine, but fixing what exists, that is terrible, would seem to be more of a priority instead of always expanding and adding new constantly. By the way, I agree that rarely does anything go down in price.
Corbett will not be in for twenty years, and taxes will still go up regardless. Property tax relief? What, give us a 2% refund on the 8% increase that just happened behind our backs in a late night "quiet" vote? I have yet to see a DECREASE in property tax in this city in my 30 plus years of paying it.. Street improvement - more oil and gravel? Get real.
It is blatantly obvious you don't know me at all roniniowa.
They need to take ALL the red light camera's down, and put them ALL up around that area instead of wasting them on speeding tickets. Bet crime would start going down pretty quick then......if they didn't shoot them out that is.
IC is going to be a safe haven for illegal aliens. Now taxes go up. I don't see how anyone can be surprised with this turn of government events. Glad I don't live there, and I think I will tell my 83 year old Mother it's time to leave and come to CR, which isn't a lot better with Ron in charge.
All you people complaining about every single thing Branstad does: 1. He got elected over Culver. That in itself says it all. Majority rule by vote. If that isn't enough: 2. If you have all the answers, why weren't you elected? 3. I suggest you run next time with all your perfect answers and political views, and see if you win. Everyone becomes a politician when a statement is made on KCRG.
Ok tell me if the council puts up a flood wall around Mays Island, are they going to re-build the bridge to raise it as well? What good is a flood wall around the building when the bridge is the same height. Water will come in at bridge level if we flood like we did in 2008. Sounds to me like common sense is somewhere at the bottom of the river.
Yes I have a job. I have owned a successful business for 30 years, and I do not have a dress code for myself or those who work for me. They use common sense and appreciate the fact that they HAVE a job. We are talking about school, not a job. Obviously you are an advocate of more government control. How nice.
Atta way city council. Promote downtown some more. You're doing great.....closing streets, spending tons on a worthless hotel, going for a 20 year extension on the tax, etc etc. Proud to live here. <severe sarc>
Yet another street closing. That's 2 now. Let's promote downtown some more and make access easy. I now wonder how many more streets will be closed off due to our wonderful city council and their spending spree, Grow up and wake up CR Council. Your spending and ideas are out of control and on the edge of idiocy in economically challenged times.
