From Politico.com:
"Obama's involvement in the decision to authorize lethal force was legally required, officials said, because it was a hostage situation, not combat, and unrelated to the already authorized U.S. effort against Al Qaeda and other terror groups, officials said.
“It’s not a combat operation, so the lawyers wanted to ensure this was done right," said a second defense official."
He had no choice but to sign off. He signed off the first time and the lawyers didn't like it, so they drafted a second one. Don't join the chorus of the drones and the MSM in cheering this empty suit.
Captain Phillips was not saved by the success of Obama's order, but only by his failure to effectively ties the hands of our Navy. If Obama had his way, the Captain would, at best, still be in the lifeboat right now.

If so, I am sure he has hired garbage-taker-outers. Moot point.

Further, this order to take action if Phillips was in danger was obvioulsy not in place when he tried to escape the first time, otherwise this would have been over then.
The ONLY credit that is due is due to Captain Phillips and the Navy.

He was obviously convinced to allow action if the Captain was in danger and it took a real man with backbone (Commander of the Bainbridge) to make a decision. The only thing Obama managed to save was his ass. It was securely covered if the attempt went poorly and also had him set up to look like a hero when it succeeded.

The order was a non-order. Shoot if the other guys do something. The Commander of the Bainbridge was the one who actually made a decison. Further, if this was a standing order from the beginning, then Captain Phillips would have been resued after his first escape attempt.

"All persons born or naturalized in the United States and SUBJECT TO THE JURISDICTION THEREOF are citizens of the United States..."
If a child is born on American soil to people who are citizens of and subject to the jurisdiction of another country then that child is a citizen of the country of the parents, NOT the United States.
Furthermore, it is not Obama's RIGHT to be president. It is a privilege conveyed upon him by a majority of the electorate and can be taken away at any time for any legal reason and if he is in fact not legally eligible to be president then he should step down or be removed.

I am no expert in police work outside of what I see on TV and the movies, but doesn't threatening an innocent constitute a hostile act and thus allow the good guy to take action? Again, I could be wrong.
Incidentally, did anyone catch this article from the UK?
