My article is part tongue in cheek and part rant. My rant is about brands who think social media is a channel to scream and shout like traditional media channels. Social media is a great place to do marketing when it's done through a combination of content, engagement and well placed advertising.

I'm okay with social media as another distribution platform as long as a marketer knows how to use the channel in a way that is not strictly a broadcast channel. I'm all for social media marketing through great experiences, through quality content and engagement.

Yes, larger companies have an inherent advantage in their size. But, if their culture doesn't support social business their size advantage doesn't help them. The culture must support the initiative.
