" While opponents say the movement is a joke..." well they are a joke. their agende pretty much consists of legalizing filesharing and reforming copyright laws(hence the name *pirates*). the represent nothing anywhere near as coherent as libertarianism. to the most pressing issues of our time(islamization, bailouts, the crisis etc.) they dont have pretend to have answers, meanwhile they want(at least the berlin wing) all kinds of goodies like free public transportion. kind of a lefty feel good movement, if you ask me....

As a german citizen i salute all the american heroes today and want to thank them for the liberation of my country.
I know and am sadened(and disgusted quite frankly) by how the attitudes in europe have changed but some of us have not forgotten the great sacrifices made by our american friends and will allways be grateful for that

My favourite thing about that was the immediate demand to find out if our reactors could withstand the japan scenario. because if there is one place thats known for earthquakes and tsunamis its certainly germany.

Speaking as a German i cant really see that happening. If any politician even vaguely suggests such a thing he gets scolded by the entire media the very next day. The EU has allways been the one thing all european elites agree on and the opinion of the people has allways been fairly irrelevant. I think 80% of the brits want out, yet no party even considers it.
