I have just watched the Channel 4 programme - a harrowing hours viewing.
It will be repeated at intervals on the 4 Channels during this coming week.

Controller in Pakistan to terrorist in Mumbai
Remember where you are going now (The Jewish Chabad house) , whoever you kill is worth 50 of the people you have already killed.

I have indeed. And as I said, I have also seen photos of the other waitresses wearing it and very tacky it looks there.
There is nothing wrong with the colour. There is nothing wrong with the idea of a bright dress instead of conventional black.
But the panel, who had the dress modelled before them, and a sample to examine, declared that her opinion that the dress was provocative was "In our view that perception was legitimate and not unreasonable" . When the proceedings were reported last year I think there were some comments on the sheerness of the fabric as well as the tightness of the cut.
They have as good as said that it was a tarty garment, but in such a way as not to offend the Swedish girl who was modelling it, VPL and all.

Thats the way things have to be worded in the employment tribunal. There has to be financial quantum for everything. The company owed her wages as well for her work.
We cannot complain on one hand about ladette behaviour, then berate a young woman for NOT wearing sexually provocative clothing to work.

When she took the job the requirements were not for a tarty dress.
Thats the point. I don't know what you do for a living but if your governor decided that from tomorrow you were wearing a nice white leather thong a la Bruno or something similar in menswear I think you might feel differently at having to look for another job.

There are other photos of the dress, worn by other waitresses that show it as cheap, tarty and tacky. The other girl's underwear was showing, it didn't just "reveal the figure" it would have revealed every pimple and whatever had been eaten for breakfast.
She is an experienced silver service waitress - In England silver service is a high standard of professionalism. She did her early shifts wearing what is the standard dress code for silver service, black trousers or skirt, black or white shirt or blouse. The tarty dress wasn't imposed until later.
This young woman being a Muslim is a red herring. She isn't actually asking for anything that any decent young woman, of any religion or none would ask.
The islam practised in Bosnia allows alcohol in moderation and a western standard of modesty in dress - headscarf or veil not necessary. Shame on you for not encouraging a young woman to maintain standards of the western modesty we were brought up with, just because you hear that she is a Muslim.
Would you want your daughter to take a job with a modest uniform and then she comes home with that skimpy rag to wear? Think about it.

Thank you for all your good wishes. Much appreciated.
The British contingent of the New English Review also wish our US comrades well tonight and tomorrow at the symposium and advise our readers that normal service continues over the weekend on the written page at the Iconoclast. http://www.newenglishreview.org/The_Iconoclast/
