Playing devil's advocate for the final segment here. It reminded me of something a TNA hater said to me. "TNA's priorities are so screwed up that they're going to let AJ Styles walk so they have the money to resign Hogan. Just you watch." And on this show, Dixie told AJ Styles that she didn't want her around before getting on her knees and being dramatically over the top in her love for Hogan. Dixie is the perfect IWC caricature of herself.

This is supposed to cater to the internet fans, and the problem is that it didn't work for all the reasons you mentioned. We don't want a Dixie based on what "we" think of her, we want good writing. It shouldn't have been done this way, they shouldn't have spent all night building up to someone leaving the company, they sure as hell should never speak of Hogan again, but I can see where they were coming from.

Good review as always man.

I see trouble, but they're trying to fix it. TNA is nowhere close to going out of business. Read that it costs them 600,000 to do a set of TV tapings on the road. That's roughly 1.2 million dollars more monthly expenses, and with live event attendance so low, marginal PPV buys, and ratings the way they are, it's not like they're making that back in concessions. Don't know how much they make from the Spike TV deal (and it's none of our business) but see where they could be in big trouble.

Don't think they need to bring in more talent... well, they could use more Knockouts and Tag Teams... but they've gotta do a better job with marketing and PR. If you ask someone on the street about TNA Wrestling, you'll get a lot of "What's that?" and "lolWWEretirementhome". Only us TNA fanboys seem to have anything positive to say about the company, and TNA really has to worry about that.

Don't log in here as much as I should, but every time I do I've always ran to your columns. You were one of the best parts of this site, and hope you can still do guest work for the site. Best of luck in your new job bro.

Anyway, as for the Sabin thing: Wouldn't have a problem with the match telling a story, wouldn't have a problem with the poetic justice finish, but do see an issue was with both of them at once. If they're doing the David vs Goliath story they should have paid it off, if they wanted the hammer shot that's fine, but they can easily fix Sabin's "lack of credibility" as champ. It's not the end of the world. Still, we all need to remember what we loved back when we were "fans", and lame finish or not isn't a guy like Sabin becoming champ what we all got into wrestling to see?

I didn't vote, but you can get another "yes" in the column. After they took a dead angle in Aces and Eights and revived it, how on earth could you not be optimistic?

The biggest issue is the lack of marketing. As a more casual fan in 2009, I learned about TNA when googling about Jeff Hardy's drug trial and saw that he signed with the company. Not a good way to learn that TNA exists, wonder how many other WWE fans TNA could convert if they knew it was there.

They've gotta get off Spike TV or get some support from Viacom. Viacom owns several stations like MTV and CMT, and they have several characters (James Storm and Joey Ryan?) who can show up on those networks. If they can find a way to get off Spike and onto a much bigger network like FX or TNT (if Turner wants wrestling back), you're getting a show that always draws a million viewers. That's much better than Castle reruns ever will, and maybe they'll get behind the show more than Spike has.

Someone mentioned the biggest issue in terms of viewership earlier, fans just aren't interested in seeing young talent. The crowd popping for Hogan while the spotlight was on AJ Styles and his compelling drama is a big problem. Aries and Roode aren't drawing. The AE crowd (and Cena) are the only guys drawing for the Evil Empire. What will it take to create for fans to get behind new talent?

(Hey, remembered my password. Awesome)

Anyway, awesome show yet again. Matches were off-the-charts and storylines are progressing at the rate they should (for once) Have only been watching watching for a few years, but this AJ Styles angle is easily the best angle I've seen in all of wrestling. It feels real, it's been setup in a believable way, and it's compelling television. Perfect execution this week.

Silva did a nice job imo picking up the pace of the match... whether it was that or Robbie being pissed about a stiff shot or something, Robbie looked like he had to actually give effort and couldn't be lazy as hell the entire match.

But he didn't do a single wrestling move, which made him look green as grass and he didn't have the time to showcase anything. Ridiculous, TNA.

The entire Immortal storyline. It started on an embarassing premise, the faces that were supposed to feud against them weren't under contract so they had to turn most of the talented members people cared about babyface so Immortal could feud with someone, then Hardy did what he did and the faction became a big joke. They tried to fix it with Anderson joining, but they wanted to swerve us and immediately turned him face again, ruining his character. So then, Kurt Angle joined after a really bitter, personal feud with He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named, riding a wave of momentum going into the Olympic tryouts, the most beloved person on the roster, so he turns heel for a paper-thin reason to give Immortal some credibility months too late. Not to mention turning on the show every week at 9:20, because you knew you weren't missing anything other than Hogan and Bischoff loving themselves.

Embarassing.

The X-Division as a whole deserves more TV time.

Not watching Impact until Hogan's gone. I'll read the spoilers and watch whatever's good on Youtube.
