You're correct, but the governor still chose an expensive legal team for the district-level case since his AG would not defend the ban.

Kentucky and Pennsylvania both had AG who declared they would not continue defending the ban, so the governors had to enlist different attorneys to continue the case. I remember reading some of the earlier figures about how much these private attorneys were costing so the governors could keep the fight going.

I doubt she'll wait 14 hours let alone 14 days to find a way to interfere to keep her lawsuits and appeals and "fame" going.

And I think this is where the big issue lies, too. She not only will not perform the job task herself, but she actively has prevented willing deputies from serving in her stead, based on her own personal beliefs.

More than her own refusal, I feel that this has been a major issue (as opposed to the counties that at least will let the willing clerks handle the marriage if another clerk objects). It also goes against the Establishment Clause, as she has effectively stated that her Apostolic Beliefs are the law for all the deputies, regardless of their own beliefs/stances (and regardless of the clients themselves).

These reports should de included in the reply brief for her impending request for a stay on the Bunning decision. She's showing that she has no regard for the current order, whose effect should be in full force. She's in contempt of the order. Based of the fact that she's already ignoring the order, there's no reason to actually stay the order. If she cannot comply with provisions handed down from both the legislative and judicial branches, then she needs to be removed from office.

The Kentucky Rowan County Clerk, Kim Davis, just won't give up! She hasn't even received the ruling from her first lawsuit last month and yet she is already starting her own lawsuit against Gov. Beshear for stating that all clerks should do their job or resign. She of course is still arguing about her religious convictions (even though she has no issue with prior divorcees or mixed marriages, as noted in the other federal hearing). She also wants the Gov to pay for these other lawsuits she is continues to face. Additionally, she is suing the state librarian who printed out the gender-neutral licenses!

I remember reading that the judge wasn't planning to issue a decision before early/mid August, so we probably still have a week or two. But a new thread would be nice!

Actually, the case is different from the bakers, florists, etc. Those ones at least aren't employed by the very taxpayers they're refusing! But discrimination is wrong, and taking a photo of a couple or baking a cake or issuing a license does not mean you're performing the wedding and blessing it. You're simply providing a service the couple needs or requires.
