Tobago people always hated Trinidadians and don't want us to come and live in Tobago. They are even more outspoken if you are of East Indian decent because apparently East Indians are not Trinidadians or nationals of our country. East Indians as far as Tobagonians are concerned belong to the state called Caroni.

Tobago is semi independent this is what some people don't understand. The secessionist movement in Tobago created the THA Act they want all the power of an independent state but still want the money from Trinidad to run their island. Trinidad was fooled and is being taken advantage of. They constantly talk about autonomy in every single way to control everything in Tobago except autonomy away from the billions Trinidad gives them each year. Tobago will continue to ask for more and more power and autonomy but will never ask for independence because they have no economy whatsoever and can't feed itself.

That is just speculation nothing has been discovered nor can Tobago go alone in exploration or drilling for the gas they must seek help from international partners. Which will of course require tax holidays etc.

That suggestion makes no sense whatsoever. First of all there is no athletics track at the stadium which means even more money will have to be spent to add the track on a stadium that has already cost the tax payers way too much. The next problem is the name, its already named after Brian Lara therefore again this makes no sense Brian was no sprinter so why name an athletics facility after him. It was a foolish idea in the first place to make this stadium and spending more and more on it to try to make it an academy will only make things worse. Lets stop the flow of "blood" and just stop the wastage of taxpayers dollars we have suffered enough as a result of Manning's folly.

Does Rowley know any other tactic besides bullying? That is what he is known for. They did not call him the Rottweiler for nothing his style is crude and nasty, as Mr. Manning put it a wajank. If Rowley was so convinced there was evidence why did he not give the evidence he had to the police instead of harassing the COP.

If anyone can tell me what I am saying is untrue please speak up don't hide behind the thumbs down. We are spending billions for absolutely nothing and get not even respect in return from the people of Tobago nothing. Why must we take billions of dollars to give Tobago when every time they open their mouths its to talk about more and more autonomy. If you want autonomy GO! and give us Trinis a break from all your crap. We have carried them for over 100 years and still no gratitude from the people of Tobago. To me its not worth the billions that we are spending to keep Tobago afloat. Can anyone explain why we must continue to carry Tobago when they constantly request their autonomy from Trinidad? If Tobago does not want ties to Trinidad why not let them go. Simply because the name of the country is Trinidad and Tobago. If that is the case it must mean something more to Trinidad than just to hand over a cheque to Tobago and pretend they do not exist after that.

I for one am sick of Tobago and its politics. If Tobago want autonomy then they should make a clean break from Trinidad. Tobago has shown nothing but contempt for Trinidad over the years and for decades have been on a secessionist drive. Everything Trinidad does is a disrespect to the people of Tobago. Tobago treats Trinidad with the same contempt shown to us by the other islands in the Caribbean region, hand over the money and don't ask us any questions. What exactly does Trinidad have to gain from this arrangement? Absolutely nothing! Tobago' s economy or lack thereof cannot sustain itself. Yet after receiving billions of dollars each year way more per capita than any other part of Trinidad they still feel disrespected.

Let Tobago go its own way give them their independence as Trinidad will never be able to please them and it will save Trinidad billions which we can spend to develop our nation as clearly Tobago does not feel themselves to be part of Trinidad anyway. With Tobago independent the 2 seats that they possess cannot be used as a bargaining chip to plunder billions from Trinidad then spit in our face afterwards. I say either the island of Tobago return power back to Trinidad or let them go independent. Let us have a referendum and get rid of this burden of Tobago. We cannot be so desperate for holidays without having a visa, which is about the only thing Tobago offers us. Trinidad is the only party being disrespected here and the THA Act is a piece of rubbish let Tobago go independent so they can see just how good they really have it.

You said it yourself Mr. Peters your letter is ridiculous. Who said anything about building a retention pond in two weeks and it being constructed in the Woodbrook area. To me it look like PNM done build that retention pond anyway, it right in the heart of POS every time rain fall for 5 minutes.

True deforestation does have a lot to do with the problem. Too bad the last government went about clearing away the forests on the hillsides to build several NHA apartment complexes in Champs Fleurs, St. James/ Fort George etc. and led the way in contributing to the problems we having now. Not to mention filling in the mangrove behind Movie Town resulting in the worst flooding we have ever seen in the Woodbrook area. PNM has a lot of blame to take where the flooding is concerned. Don't only blame the private developers who the PNM neglected to control in the first place they were only following the PNM's example. Oh and by the way like you forget that one of those private contractors building on the hills was one Mr. Colm Imbert who could not even construct a retaining wall & who is also responsible for the disaster that took place on the hillside along the Morne Coco Road in Maraval where a huge area of forest was cleared on a very steep hillside to make way for yet another housing project yet to be built.Under such reckless leadership what else can we expect from private sector when government leads the way. Lets hope this new administration brings some change.

Its a good thing PNM was not returned to power because if they have not even completed the Brian Lara Stadium and it already going to cost over $1 billion by the time they completed the entire complex it may have cost the tax payers of this country $10 billion.
