Devoid of evidence? It links to 56 pages of it in the first paragraph, all of which is fully referenced and rebuts all of the points made in your "what I read in a newspaper" comment.

Let's hope so. Since votes are the only thing politicians care about now, perhaps a caning over daft policies like this may make some of them wake up. There's a reason millions are voting UKIP, and this is a perfect example of the genre.

Illicit trade is booming in Australia and their neighbours are hours away. It's going to be hilarious to watch how this pans out with EU free movement of goods.

Hasn't it ever occurred to you - or anyone ever mentioned it - that all these 'dangerous' choices impact on pension outlay? If you're solely motivated by cost to yourself, it's unarguable that tax receipts far outweigh the cost to the NHS of poor choices.

Plus, allowing freedom of choice means you get a bigger pension! Just think of that for a minute. You can be a true conservative AND increase your wealth, all you have to do is shed your gullibility and the blind allegiance to junk science. ;)

Fail. Try again.

There has been no court case anywhere proving that passive smoke has caused physical harm. You know this, which is why you obfuscate.

If that case is the best you can do, I can find dozens which prove heavy metal music irritating to neighbours and should be banned. But then, you'd probably agree with too, wouldn't you.

Of course. Richard Doll was knighted so therefore *not* world-renowned.

There's not much point debating with you if you are so wildly ignorant of the subject matter.

"How come you're so fired up about this?"

Because I believe in liberty and personal responsibility. I though other Conservatives believed the same. I was wrong, clearly.

The Labate case. "Manifestly unfounded"
http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/brunowaterfield...

During your googling, did you find any cases where passive smoking was successfully proven in a court of law? Take your time.

Richard, have you ever considered that there are entities called pharmaceutical companies who have an equal and opposite business proposition to the tobacco industry? And that they, too, are renowned for being corrupt?

So I ask you again. Can you remember what the "ex-Deputy Speaker" was saying? Or did it just accord with your prejudice so you went along with it?

You seem happy to play the man not the ball when it favours you - including dismissing world-renowned scientists - but not recognising that the same principle is the basis for every single post you've submitted today.

You've been given links and evidence, you've replied with what you heard from a guy in the pub. You've been given the opinions of the Grandfather of tobacco science, you responded by saying he was ill-informed. You've insisted that vested interests shouldn't be listened to, while being oblivious that your own opinions are formed by lobbyists who play on your hatred.

The great thing is that you're a Tory who justifies my blog tag of #MadTories whenever I hear this stupid idea that we should treasure liberties by voting for Cameron's lot. Ta muchly. :)

The modern "evidence" is nonsense. It is designed specifically for gullible people with a prejudice to believe .. and you fell for it.

I love the way you dismiss the opinions of a world-respected scientist in favour of your own ignorant, tabloid-fed bigotry. You do know who Doll is, don't you? And why he is respected as the world's foremost authority on tobacco harm?

My guess is that tonight was the first time you'd ever heard of him. ;)
