As a romance novelist, editor, and reader, I can confirm this is all deliciously accurate.

The elbow-rub is the traditional hug substitute of my entire family because of this.

My sweet-but-strange old dog Zoe (not an actual dog, pretty sure she was a space alien sent to observe human behavior and report back) had a thick undercoat and long overcoat and after a few rough summers with grass burs we finally gave in and started doing the summer close-clip. The ex dubbed it "shaving the weird off her" because she would race around like crazy after the procedure then, for a few weeks, act almost like a normal dog.

RIP sweet Zoe, you were an odd dog but a good dog.

This entire thing is the truest piece of writing that has ever existed or will ever exist.

Rarely have I read anything as true as this post and I feel it's a lesson more people should learn.

That retreat must've taught you humility, Mallory...I bet Prudence can write that off.

Also the part where by a certain age he'd worked out even if he assumed he was the smartest in the room, *leading* with "I know I talk too much, I'm abrasive" was a good idea so people couldn't hit him with that first.

Especially a good idea if followed by "YOU'RE incredible in court, succinct, persuasive." It didn't work but the theory was sound, dammit.

Hamilton has made me so conflicted because I know damn well I would not have been on his side in most of those disputes and he was also a contemptible wife-cheater-onner but *dammit* he makes for a compelling character.

Lin-Manuel Miranda probably would've been burnt for a witch first thing back in the day.

Oh this was so perfect!

All I could think about the jumpsuits was that Madeline Kahn's jumpsuit must have been SO long to hide the eight inch platform heels she must've been wearing to put her that close to eye level with Carol Burnett since Carol was ALSO wearing huge heels...

MTE. Baltar I can support. So deliciously low, plus he has Chip! Six in his head like, ALL THE TIME, who wouldn't want that.
