There are many state and local programs that cover low-income families, uninsured pregnant women, childhood immunizations, special needs, etc. I see no benefit to NATIONALIZING healthcare. The national government is notorious for taking money from one program and redistributing it because once it has the money, it controls the money. It's also notorious for not being able to keep track of all the money it gets. It's only one of the reasons giving the government control over one more thing is a bad idea.
Well, then bring something solid we can actually discuss!!! I'm new here! I wanted to hear something besides the drivel that comes from liberal media outlets. Skip the whining and make an honest to God contribution to the debate! Dump the name-calling and bellyaching and stereotyping of Conservatives and give us SOMETHING TO CONSIDER!!!

Weezo, I've been looking for someone to answer this question. Why do so many far-left Liberals claim to be moderate as if moderate means "reasonable" and they think they're the only ones who have a reasonable point of view? My boyfriend is definitely liberal and claims moderate, and I'd ask him the question, but he's easily offended and I just don't need the hassle that would ensue.
You won't get the whole 4 years. The people will be slamming on Congress's brakes in 2010 ... Just in time to rescue the damsel in distress (Lady Liberty) from the oncoming tyranny train! Haven't you heard this story before? The good guys always win in the end -- the ones fighting for justice and fairness and freedom! This story's no different! That's why most of us here, to get in touch with others who are concerned about the government stomping on our liberty. ... That and to sharpen our wits and refine our arguments using you and others like you as whetstones.

That's not why professors tend to lean more left. Academia is not the real world and they spend more time in it than where the rest of us live. That's not to say that they aren't intelligent. It's just that they often discover obscure ideas in their studies and explore their resulting theories in a limited experiential environment. And research grants often depend on not offending the grantors.
I work with 3 charitable foundations (I've been called a bleeding-heart Conservative.) ... Bravo on your charitable work! ... But doesn't that mean I get to be even more self-righteous and self-congratulatory than you?
Rasmussen polls (among others) shows he's not doing the will of the people. More are opposed to bailouts than support them, more are opposed to the government taking over auto manufacturing than support it, more are opposed to saddling our children and grandchildren with this debt than support it ... Unfortunately, we only get our say at the ballot box on a set schedule which gives them a short window of time to shove all this stuff through while we watch it happen.
And I recommend NOT waiting for anyone here to spoon feed you information on Progressivism and National Fascism. Perhaps being spoon fed your "knowledge" is how you ended up with your left wing propagandist views in the first place.
As a good person AND gun-toting Conservative, it is my DUTY and my RIGHT to protect my family, home, and neighborhood ... I have friends who are anti-gun and who are welcome to cower in my basement while I defend all of us against the Klebolds, Von Brunns (NOT a right wing Conservative, btw), et al! Crazy, evil, violent people are liberally scattered across the social spectrum.
Your childish name-calling and ignorance of what Conservatives really want (safe homes, cities and neighborhoods to name a few) does you NO credit.
