That very first picture is very inspiring. Velvet rules.

It's a party, Frank - not a concert. This sort of happening is part of the fun. It is not meant to translate well on video.

I did not really know Iris Van Herpen until your post (well, I had heard the name - does it count?).
Thanks to you she will now feature on my radar!

To answer your question, Adam:
Those who care (in your words ‘give a shit’) are those men & women who recognise, who know, that racism kills, that anti-Semitism kills, that xenophobia kills, that homophobia kills, that sexism kills. The list goes on.

Any form of the hatred of the Other, of the one who is different, kills. When it does not kill, it makes life miserable.

In Hollywood or elsewhere, these behaviours are wholly unacceptable. Anyone who 'harbours these types of feelings' should work on themselves in order to get rid of these feelings.

PS. Call me megalomaniac. I do not care. Some things are just too important to let them pass without reacting.

I do not think that this goes very far by way of an apology. At least John Galliano is condemning anti-semitism & racism.
Let's wait & see what will happen at the trial towards the end of 2011. This should shed some more lights this affair.

As you say, Galliano's behaviour may be explained by personal circumstances. However, explaining is not the same as excusing. John Galliano's actions and words may be explained, they remain inexcusable. John Galliano's words are hurtful, his words are harmful. When it comes to racism (and other forms of hatred of the Other), SAYING is DOING. The racist words are racist acts themselves, as (I think) French law rightfully states & as anyone who has suffered racist, xenophobic or homophobic abuse can testify. (Hopefully John Galliano's words will not inspire anyone to commit further action.)

I am all for forgiving but I think it is a bit early & there has not been much in the way of contrition yet, AFAIK.

PS. Obviously, talent never excuses anything of this sort. These are two separate issues.

The first terminal at Roissy, by Andreu... One of the most imaginative & greatest airport designs in the world. An architectural landmark. Unfortunately, I land at Orly or Le Bourget more often than Roissy!

C'est un travail assez connu finalement, que j'avais revu à Art Paris l'an dernier. A voir sans aucun doute, mais je n'avais pas acheté, finalement.

Très marquant. J'ai cherché le nom de l'architecte. Introuvable... Hélas.

Great to see such a fantastic house / brand come back in the limelight. The clothes deserve it, too.
