Great post today Brent and I deal with this stuff all the time. I get pressured to make changes to our ERP database on occasion and I do my best to avoid it. I export data to my own tables and manipulate it there instead. Incidentally, I always make a full and tested backup to my database before applying any upgrades or service packs just incase something borks.
