Just to reiterate what I said on Twitter - just because the deadline of May 9th passed doesn't mean that we're not still looking for diverse reads! It just means we're not longer promising a 24-hour turnaround!

Sorry to not respond to these questions sooner. I think right now, where so many agents are specifically looking for diverse stories, you should try to find a way to mention the interracial romance, even if it's just as an aside. You might not want to give too much detail if it takes away from the main story line, but I do think it's worth mentioning.

It depends. If you're just talking word count, there's lots of wordless picture books. Do you mean within a specific age range or genre? The shortest book I've represented is probably the forthcoming MG novel RED BUTTERFLY, which, since it's a novel-in-verse, is only about 29,000 words.

Not to make you doubt your own choice, but why would you hire someone, anyone, without clear references you can check? As an agent, when I'm hoping to sign a client, I don't just tell them how awesome I am, I provide contact information for my current clients so they can hear from others what it's like to work with me. My track record of sales can be found on Publishers Marketplace and in PublishersWeekly, as well as on my own website. To take a step away from the publishing analogy, would you hire a contractor for your house without speaking to other homeowners he's worked with? What about a babysitter?

There's "hoping" that one's standards and sense of pride will get you the result you want, and there's being able to look at past examples and speak to past clients and know that you're going to get what you've paid for.

I wish you the best.

She was, yes, and she'll also edit the stories as they come in.
