Recently here in the *ahem* GREAT *ahem* state of Washington they passed new legislation stating that restaurants must display the number of calories in each menu item directly next to said menu item.
If it is that easy for them to impose such legislation on business forcing them to manufacture new menus and scrap the perfectly good ones, why can't we do the same for taxes? Suppose for example, every time you went to fill up at the tank it said, right next to your desired octane, the exact amount per gallon that was going straight from your pocket to the government's.
It can't be that hard right?! Yeah... Right...

Common sense people... Sure everyone is alright, and that is great. But it could have been avoided altogether if simple forethought were used. Do you see the parallels with the 2nd Amendment?
Instead, it cost the US taxpayers probably millions of dollars and could have potentially cost the lives of sailors and marines as well. Let them arm themselves!

How about the fact that Senator Ron Paul has been pushing true conservatism for years and yet I have not mentioned his name once on this site (not saying it hasn't been). Are there people here who believe the Fed is unconstitutional and want it abolished? Who want a return to the gold standard? Who believe in neutrality in foreign relations and free trade with all? Who believe the Patriot Act and National Security Letters are wholly unconstitutional?
Where are the true conservatives on this site? Please open your eyes to Ron Paul, Campaign for Liberty, etc.

Take Senator Ron Paul for example. His record of true conservatism has been steadfast and principled throughout history yet I have not seen his name mentioned once on this website (not saying it hasn't). I believe this to be because the majority of people on this website, the same ones who accuse others of ignorance, etc., are so close-minded that some facts have become incomprehensible. People are scarred of believing that the Patriot Act was unconstitutional because Bush presided over its creation. People are scarred of saying we should just straight up remove the income tax, return to the gold standard, etc.
Instead of TRUE conservatism, we see neoconservative church-going mothers and trigger-happy fathers simply depressed by the lost election to Obama. There is a bigger issue here that I think people are missing, and that is the elephant in the room: true conservatism. I don't mean to offend anyone, but seriously people, wake up! I used to be a huge Bush supporter until literally 3 months ago... I am ashamed to say that I was.

Consider that the Bush administration violated virtually every right save the right to keep and bear arms. I have heard people say things like "well if you abide by the 12 values, etc. then who cares what the government does, you won't have to worry about them violating your rights". Excuse me? The Founding Fathers fought for "Liberty OR Death"! Every tyrannical government in history has abolished rights in the name of so-called security.
Do you not see Republicans drooling over the Bush administration like you see Democrats drooling over the Obama administration? The government is supposed to protect our rights, not destroy them. Consider that it is punishable by 5 yrs. in prison if you even talk to someone about a warrantless search or seizure of your property! Where were conservatives when the Bush administration allowed such desecration of the 1st Amendment, etc.?
Of course the Obama administration and Congress could care less about the Constitution just the same. I would suggest people read A Nation of Sheep by Fox News' Senior Judicial Analyst Andrew Napolitano, as well as other books pertaining to our Founding Fathers and their libertarian (small 'L') origins. That's not to say I'm libertarian ;)
