SugarBeets, You can turn manure into energy. Kansas Gov. Parkinson just allowed regulations for an energy plant in SW Kansas to build a plant that is basically waste free. All waste, wheter it be manure, coal, or other waste will be recycled into energy. This new energy will be used to power parts on Colorado and Wyoming. Look into the Sunflower Energy Plant in Holcomb, KS if you can.

P.S. I think the GOP leaders are right on in actively opposing this bill even after it's passing in the House. It looks like we may have good, solid leaders in place, just as long as they can stay consistant.

Two concerns about Obama's statements:

1) "You can't fight this war with just one hand,"
-Are we officially "at war" with Mexico and/or the drug cartels? Don't you think the democrats on the HIll would like to know this? Obama is such a war-monger

2) "You can't have Mexico making an effort and the United States not making an effort."
-Um, excuse me Mr. President, but Ibelieve the American people have been wanting to make an effort on this situation a LONG time ago. Thanks for joining the rest of us.

Oldranger,

I think you are mistaken. I remember listening to the same Marine ask the same question. What Glenn was getting at was that the Marine honor his oath, however when it comes time to re-enlist, the Marine needs to be honest with himself. The original question was "What do I do when I feel the U.S. government is acting as a domestic terrorist?" Glenn did not dishonor this Marine, but advised him to stay true to his beliefs and not become a Timothy McVeigh type ex-serviceman.

I just read an article about Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae employees getting over $150 million in bonuses, with 4 top executives each getting over $1 million a piece. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE contact your senators and congressmen and asked that they stop these bonuses. How are these bonuses any different than what AIG did? I have already contacted my representatives and said that if they support these bonuses, they will no longer receive my vote. PLEASE contact your representatives.

Quick idea to tighten border security. 2 cue balls, 2 socks. Give one each to Chuck Norris and one each to Marcus Luttrell. Put Chuck Norris on one end of the border and Marcus Luttrell on the other end. Have at it, boys!

Just an idea, but whenever there is a Tea Party in DC announced, shouldn't we have "mini" tea parties at all 50 state capitols at the same time? I think this would be even more effective. Again, just an idea.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to march on DC, but don't the legislators take a vacation over July 4th? If you are protesting the acts of Congress, shouldn't they be there to see it?

While I would like to agree that the Constitution does address, "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness," I am hesitant to think that the founding fathers were referring to abortions when addressing "life." I would like to consider myself a history buff, but am not too knowledgable about abortions being performed in the 1700's. I would love to see abortion outlawed on a national level, but I honestly believe that it should be up to the individual states and their residents to determine that. Believe me, in Kansas, we have enough problems with this issue. Am anxious to here the closing arguments on George Tiller's case tomorrow.

PhilR,

While I would like to see a bill like this at the federal level, I believe that if the Constitution does not address the issue, the issue shold be referred to the State. The closer the people are to government, the more their voice is heard.

Here is my wish list for America:

1) Term Limits for members on both sides of the house. I think 2 terms in the Senate and 3 terms in the house seems fair, and members cannot serve more than 12 years total in Congress (for those of you reps. would want to run for the Senate.)

2) Implement a flat tax across the board so that we all pay into the system. Most taxes would be raised by those purchasing luxury items such as boats, motor homes, etc.

3) All members of Congress should have to have a mandatory "town-hall" meetings with their constituients once a month. no more than 90-minutes and 1 follow-up per question.

4) All proposed bills should have a 5 day open review period before being voted on, no exceptions. READ IT BEFORE VOTING ON IT!

5) If it is not specifically referred to in the Constitution, than it is a States' Right. This includes marriage laws, abortion rights, etc. When in question, refer to The People (i.e. States).
