I know this may be a dumb question but what if Drum knew something about these two offenders - that they were planning to offend, or in the process of grooming a victim? Maybe they had reoffended and felt they had gotten away with it. He was renting a room from one of them so God knows what he heard or saw.

I just have a feeling this case will take some interesting twists and turns as the days go by.
