Right. I think it has a lot to do with Teddy Roosevelt's obsession with the West and preserving the land. I think I recall that on one of Ken Burns' specials.

One is a state park. The other is a DC park run by the National Park Services, so much as I can tell. It's weird that the Official national park page doesn't have a list. I got this list from here. https://www.nationalparktrips.com/parks/us-nation... which at last matches Wiki.
